The Intersection of Human-Centered Design & Immersive Sound

I am an XR Engineer and Interaction Designer currently completing my Master’s in Computer Science (HCI) at Stanford University. My work is driven by a singular mission: to bridge the gap between high-level engineering and the emotive power of sound to create transformative sensory experiences in Virtual and Mixed Reality.

With a foundational background in Music Composition and Technology, I approach XR development through the lens of a storyteller. I believe that immersive audio is not just a feature—it is the primary architecture for human emotion and presence in digital spaces.

Technical Expertise & Research

My technical practice focuses on spatial audio engineering and cross-platform XR development. Whether I am architecting complex interaction pipelines or designing intuitive user interfaces, I prioritize technical rigor and accessibility.

  • Core Toolkit: Unity (AR/VR/MR), C#, Max/MSP, React Native, Figma.

  • Audio Engineering: Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Chuck, Multi-channel Spatial Sound, Live Sound

  • Research Focus: Implementing real-time audio-visual feedback loops to enhance user immersion and behavioral response in simulated environments.

Featured Impact

  • Virtual Human Interaction Lab (VHIL): Engineered a high-fidelity 24-channel earthquake simulation for primary school education, integrating real-time spatial triggers with haptic hardware to optimize pedagogical outcomes.

  • Starling Lab: Architected a secure AR web platform integrating 3D photogrammetric models with blockchain-based authentication.

  • Flicker of a Moment: Awarded a $9,000 VPUE Major Grant to design a 64-channel immersive environment at CCRMA, bridging experimental sound design with Buddhist philosophy.

Artistic Vision: Misty Air

Beyond engineering, I am a singer-songwriter and producer performing as Misty Air. This artistic practice is the laboratory where I explore how music connects humanity. By blending my experiences, walking down the open road of love and life with my technical training at Stanford, I strive to develop technology that is not only functional but deeply meaningful.
